National: Trad session breaks out on delayed Aer Lingus flight but not everyone is happy

Aer Lingus add 6,000 extra seats from Shannon to Boston

A spontaneous Irish trad session broke out amongst young passengers on a recent Aer Lingus flight when a flight with members of Cavan CCÉ on board was delayed, prompted them to take out their musical instruments. 

And not unexpectedly, the social media reaction has been mixed at best. 

While our Traditional Irish music is a national treasure, with Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, it's fair to say that not everyone appreciates it. 

And X (formerly Twitter) is known for its witty responses, from good-humoured to borderline cruel. 

References to Father Ted and the classic comedy Airplane, were thrown in for good measure. Some said they would be in better form if their plane was hijacked while others said they feared such an event more than a mid-air collision. Read a selection of the comments below.
