A MAN has died following a collision between a van and scooter in County Sligo.
Gardaí say they are currently at the scene of the incident which happened at Rusheen Riverstown at approximately 8.10pm on Wednesday.
"A male, aged in his 50s, who was travelling on an e-scooter, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van. He was pronounced deceased at the scene." said a spokesperson.
The male driver of the van, aged in his 30s, received minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.
A local road - the L1303 road - is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
"Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Rusheen, Riverstown between 7.30pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage, including dash cam,, is asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
Anyone with information in relation to this collision is asked to contact Ballymote garda station on 071 918 9500.
