Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault over the weekend which resulted in a woman being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The incident took place in Kiltale, Co Meath, yesterday evening, Sunday 22nd October 2023.
The incident occurred at a domestic residence on the Trim Road (R154) between 8.30pm and 9.15pm.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that a woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
A man, also aged in his 40s, has been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in the Meath Region.
Gardaí say that inquiries are ongoing.
They are appealing to anyone who may have information to contact them.
"Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were in the area between 8.30pm and 9.15pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí," the spokesperson said.
