A garda has been assaulted during a vehicle stop in Dublin.
He was interacting with two individuals after stopping a car on Basin Street at about 8.45pm on Thursday.
During the encounter, the driver of the vehicle assaulted the male officer before both occupants of the car fled the scene on foot.
The car, which had been reported stolen earlier this month in the Dublin area, was recovered and removed from the scene for forensic and technical examination.
Following the incident, a woman in her 30s was arrested by investigating gardai.
She is currently detained for an offence contrary to section three of the Criminal Justice Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1991 under section four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The injured garda, aged in his 20s and stationed at Kilmainham station, received necessary medical attention.
His injuries are not life-threatening.
Garda welfare services have been made available and activated.
The investigation is ongoing.
