Driver dies after crash in Co Meath

A man has died following a single-vehicle road crash in Co Meath.

The collision occurred on the R154 at Piercetown near Dunboyne at around 2.30pm on Saturday.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to St James’ hospital in Dublin where he was pronounced dead.

He was aged in his 40s.

The scene remained closed to traffic on Saturday evening pending a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Motorists with camera footage from the road involved around the time of the crash are also asked to make it available to the Garda.
