Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter gears up for Heritage Week

Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter invites locals and visitors to engage in its activities for the upcoming National Heritage Week, the organisation's most important week of the year.

Activities include the Cathedral Quarter Jaunt, an Office Open Week and our main event for the week - Traditional Skills Demonstration.

First up is the Cathedral Quarter Jaunt taking place from the Hiring Fair statues in the Market Square on Monday, 18th August at 8pm. Want to find out all the Cathedral Quarter project and travel through time, then come along on the 'Cathedral Quarter Jaunt'. Step into the past and discover the rich layers of history woven through the Cathedral Quarter! Admission is €5 per person.

Our next event is the Cathedral Quarter Office Open Day taking place on Thursday, 21st August from 10am till 5pm. Discover the vision behind the restoration of the historic Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter, learn about the area’s rich heritage, and meet the dedicated volunteers and community members working to preserve this important cultural site. Admission is Free.

Finally, our main event for Heritage Week is a Traditional Skills Demonstration taking place on Saturday, 23rd August from 2pm to 4pm in the yard behind No. 1 and No. 3 Church Lane. Step back in time and witness the artistry of two time-honored crafts in this hands-on Traditional Skills Demonstration featuring Woodturning and Blacksmithing. Woodturner Brian Laverty and Blacksmith Charlie Gallagher's interactive demonstration offers a rare opportunity to experience the craftsmanship and dedication behind their trades. Admission is Free.

So come along to our events and explore our rich past and discover our exciting future. You just might want to get involved.
