Data shows that almost 47,000 pregnancies have been terminated since abortion laws were liberalised
A total of 1,058 abortions have been carried out in Donegal since abortion services were first made available in the State in 2019, according to information released by the Department of Health.
A report notifying how many abortions are carried out across the Republic is published by the Department annually.
The 2024 report was published earlier this month and shows 285 procedures were carried out on women who gave a Donegal address.
Analysis carried out by Donegallive found that's the largest number recorded in the six reports published since the eighth amendment to the constitution was repealed by referendum in 2018.
The data shows that 127 abortions were provided to women who gave a Donegal address in 2019, followed by 128 in 2020, 90 in 2021, 169 in 2022, 249 in 2023 and 285 in 2024.

Nationally, there have been 46,861 abortions since the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018 came into effect.
There were 6,666 abortions in 2019, 6,577 in 2020, 4,577 in 2021, 8,156 in 2022, 10,033 in 2023 and 10,852 last year.
The data for 2021, at both county and national level, was acknowledged at the time to be an underestimate caused by a cyberattack on the HSE.
The 2024 national data shows the vast majority of abortions - 10,711 - were carried out in early pregnancy (up to 12 weeks).
A further 108 terminations were carried out in cases where a condition likely to lead to the death of the foetus was diagnosed. Twenty-four procedures were carried out due to a risk to the life or health of the pregnant woman, and nine were performed in emergency situations where such a risk was immediate.
