A Letterkenny hairdressing student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship as part of the North West Regional College’s (NWRC) Best in Further Education celebrations.
Megan Clarke, who studies at NWRC’s Strabane Campus, was the recipient of the 2025 Eileen Cairns Scholarship, recognising her outstanding achievement and commitment across the college.
She was praised for her “exceptional endeavour and accomplishment in Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.”
The Best in Further Education awards celebrate the achievements of Further Education graduates from NWRC’s campuses across Derry, Strabane, and Limavady.

In memory of former lecturer Eileen Cairns, the Eileen Cairns Scholarship is awarded annually to a student at Strabane Campus. The award recognises the endeavour and accomplishment of the winner, in this case, Megan Clarke, who received a specially engraved trophy along with financial support to purchase technology or educational resources.
Clare Gallagher, Head of the Faculty of Creative, Performing Arts and Therapies at NWRC, said: “I am delighted to present this award to Megan. During her time at NWRC, she has demonstrated not only significant accomplishments in her practical and academic work but also a clear vision for her future within the industry.
“Megan is versatile, determined, and has a passion for this industry, skills essential for success.”
The winner, Megan, commented: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying hairdressing and beauty therapy at Strabane campus, where I have been able to complete my qualifications. I would like to thank the Cairns family for this scholarship.”
