Letterkenny primary schools will implement an early dismissal on Friday as heavy traffic is expected due to the Donegal International Rally taking place over the weekend.
The decision was announced by McGettigan Travel, an operator of the school bus services. In a notice issued to parents and guardians, McGettigan Travel stated: “Due to the rally taking place this weekend, we are anticipating large traffic delays on Friday for our School Bus Services.

"Due to this we have asked the schools to allow all children to finish school at 2pm to allow our drivers time for home drop-offs. Huge thanks to Scoil Cholmcille, Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál and Gaelscoil Adhamhain for allowing us to do so.”
Parents are advised to make the necessary arrangements to collect their children earlier than usual. Traffic authorities also expect significant congestion in the area as rally participants arrive.
