Manorcunningham grandmother killed in Milford crash was 'so much loved'

Funeral took place of late Susan Hamilton (née Craig)

The late Susan Hamilton (née Craig) was described as “a loyal wife, a loving mother, a great neighbour and a trustworthy friend” at her Funeral in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island.

Susan Hamilton passed away aged 74, following a two-vehicle road traffic accident on Friday, May 30.

The incident occurred at Bunlin Bridge on the Milford to Cranford road on Friday, May 30.

Ms Hamilton lived in Manorcunningham and was formerly of Inch.

At the Funeral Mass, Father Paddy Baker, said the news of Ms Hamilton’s passing caused “widespread shock and disbelief.”

Fr Baker commented that he had heard so much “praise and adulation about Susan.”

“Susan was so much loved by so many people,” said Fr Bradley. “It was very easy to come to the conclusion that Susan was a good person.

“A woman who was very kind and very tender at her heart. A person who simply cared about people, less about herself, and more about the other person.”

Fr Baker noted how Ms Hamilton “never forgot her roots” in Inch, and “was very proud to come from Inch,” returning often with family and friends to pray.

Ms Hamilton’s love of birds and nature, dancing and music, faith, word searches and bingo books, and giving, was honoured at the Mass by her grandchildren through a set of objects which represented her life.

Predeceased by her husband Joseph, brother James, and her parents James and Jeannie. Susan Hamilton is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Mickey), Amanda (Gerard), Rachel (Kevin), Lisa (Stephen), and her grandchildren Kayla, Joseph, Jack, Jessica, Ciara, Leighton, Jamie, Eoghan, Lily, and Michael.

She will also be missed by her brother John and her sisters Margaret and Ruby, and a large circle of family and friends.
