Leitir Pitch and Astro in Kilmacrennan has been forced to halt club activities after a number of incidents were reported.

The new pitch is home to Kilmacrennan Celtic FC.

Kilmacrennan Schoolboys/ girls Football League posted: “It is with regret that we inform you that there have been a number of incidents at the new pitch and along the walkway between the village and the Astro. Both incidents have been reported to the Gardaí.

“The Kilmac Community Development Group and the club have invested significant time and effort into developing this facility for the benefit of all. It's disheartening to see behaviour that undermines this shared space.

They appealed for anyone who has witnessed any inappropriate or concerning activity to get in touch.

“We will ensure the information is passed on to the Gardaí,” they continued. “To support safety and security, new cameras have been installed to monitor the area and help maintain a welcoming environment for everyone, young and old.

“Please note that the new pitch is designated for official club activities only. Casual use such as kickabouts or jogging within the fenced area is not permitted.

“Additionally, further maintenance was carried out on the pitch this morning. As a result, it will be closed for all club activities over the coming week.

“The June 50/50 is live. We would love as many of our club members to support the draw, which will benefit the upkeep of the pitch.”
