Seamus Devine, chairperson of Relay For Life Donegal, has thanked volunteers for their efforts in helping to make the fundraising event a success.

Speaking ahead of Daniel O’Donnell’s concert at ATU Letterkenny on Sunday afternoon, he praised the volunteers for working through difficult weather conditions.

“We had a tight night and a tight morning with the wind and the rain,” he said. “Sometimes it gets missed that volunteers were critical at getting candles out and getting them lifted this morning, so I’d like to thank them.

“Cancer is a 24-hour event, 365 days a year - rain, sunshine, sleet, snow, wind. We had our fair mix of it this morning.”

The sun appeared for Daniel’s performance, which brought to a close this year’s Relay For Life.

They posted: “We do not have a final figure as teams are still fundraising with a number of events coming up in the next few weeks, however, our count today totals €154,358, which exceeds last years final figure and to say we are proud and grateful is an understatement. This has been an amazing year for Relay for Life Donegal.”
