Deputy Charles Ward TD wants better for Donegal patients in need.
Deputy Charles Ward has told the Dáil that Donegal is in “desperate need” of a new surgical hub to help improve the standard of healthcare for people in the county.
The 100% Redress Party TD said Letterkenny University Hospital is not properly equipped to deal with the volume of patients in need.
“Patients across the county are forced to travel very long distances to access essential care and life-saving surgeries. Letterkenny University Hospital is severely underfunded and has insufficient resources to address the healthcare needs of people in the North-West,” Deputy Ward said.
He has urged the Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, to commit to establishing a new surgical hub in Donegal.

Deputy Ward added: “To address the imbalance in healthcare in this country, and to meet current demand, two surgical hubs should be established in the North-West.”
“Donegal has been left behind and forgotten in so many ways. I am asking you not to leave us behind once again,” he added.
