The concert takes place at the Rory Gallagher Theatre in Ballyshannon on Thursday 29, and it promises to be a very special gig.

A spokesperson for the Abbey Arts Centre said: “In October 2024 while performing at the Allingham Arts Festival in Ballyshannon, Muireann had the honour of playing Rory Gallagher’s Kay K672 Swingmaster guitar that Barry O’Neill had purchased at the Bonham’s Auction.

“We look forward to welcoming Muireann back to Ballyshannon and this time to the Rory Gallagher Theatre.”

Muireann specialises in performing acoustic fingerpicking country, piedmont, and ragtime blues styles from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s as well as later folk, country and Americana. The guitarist and singer has been influenced by the likes of Blind Blake, Rev Gary Davis, Memphis Minnie, Elizabeth Cotten, Mississippi John Hurt, Stefan Grossman, Ari Eisinger, John Fahey and Roy Bookbinder.

She rose to fame after performing on Jools Holland Annual Hootenanny in December 2023. Following her appearance on the show, her album I Kept These Old Blues entered the top ten of the UK Albums Download Chart.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start in the Rory Gallagher Theatre at the Abbey Arts Centre on May 29.
