The inaugural Balor Multisport Race took place over the weekend in the stunning setting of northwest Donegal.
The race was based in Dunfanaghy and took participants through six gruelling stages on a marked course, showcasing some of Donegal’s most iconic landscapes, including Bloody Foreland, Errigal Mountain, Dunlewey Lake, Knockalla and Fanad, Atlantic Drive and the old Muckish railway.

It challenged competitors to complete a 225-kilometer loop combining running, cycling, and kayaking, making it one of the most thrilling endurance events in Ireland.
Competitors had 22 hours to complete the six stages, which included 47 kilometres of running over varied terrain, 167 kilometres of road cycling and 11 kilometres of flat-water kayaking.
The team event was won the Speer Performance, made up of Adam Speer, Declan Donnellan and Barry Foley in a time of 11:05:47, with Willie’s Muppets - Frankie McGinley, Fergal McGee and Sean Ferry - second in 12:03:12 and third went to 3 Chasers, with Gracie Doohan, Graham Sterritt and Kenneth Bates, in 12:24:00.
In the Male Solo event, Johan Muller was first in 11:20:50, Sebastien Giraud was second in 11:30:10 and Kevin O’Brien’s 11:37:35 was enough for third.

The winner of the Female Solo was Laura O Driscoll, with 12:49:39, with Kelly Anne Speight next with 13:08:11 and Fin Begley and Sharon Ward sharing third with 18:48:17.
Organised by Creeslough native and experienced adventure racer Shaun Stewart, the Balor Multisport Race aims to establish Donegal as a prime destination for world-class endurance racing.
