Power cuts have hit thousands of homes across Donegal
Close to 20,000 homes and businesses are without electricity in Donegal as Storm Darragh wreaks havoc across the country.
ESB crews will have a mammoth task restoring power, with every county of Ireland hit by power cuts as a result of highly damaging winds that swept the country on Friday evening and well into the early hours.
Fallen trees have led to damaged power lines in many areas, and people are reminded that contact with live power lines causes death.
A spokesperson for ESB Networks said: "We're assessing the damage to the electricity network caused by the recent weather event. We'll provide updates on the estimated restoration times as soon as crews have evaluated impacted areas.
"Thank you for your understanding."
Anyone who sees fallen electricity wires is warned to never approach or touchc them in any circumstances, and to call ESB Networks on 1800 372 999 (+353 21 2382410), or contact the emergency services 999 or 112
These are the areas without power as of 4am, with restoration of service estimated at 5pm.
