Billboard launch highlights highly-rated new crime drama CRÁ set in west Donegal

An outstanding cast and award-winning creative team ensures CRÁ will be one of the standout dramas of the year.

A striking billboard launch on Eglinton Road in Donnybrook set the stage for the premiere of Crá, TG4’s latest Irish-language crime drama which was primarily shot in Gaoth Dobair, with episode one airing this week.

This compelling six-part series, which captivated viewers with its debut, is now available to binge-watch on the TG4 Player at TG4.ie, as well as being screened on both TG4 and BBC.

The billboard, executed over three days, featured an innovative "tease and reveal" format that added to the intrigue surrounding this suspenseful new show.

In a haunting recreation of a crime scene, the billboard used lightweight replica soil, grass, and chillingly realistic crime scene props, inviting passersby to engage with the mystery that CRÁ brings to the screen. Out-of-home specialist PML Group coordinated the campaign, with creative direction from The Tenth Man, media planning by Zenith, and the build by special projects company Eclipse Media. Media placement was managed by JC Decaux.

Produced by Fíbín Media in collaboration with Zoogon Ltd, CRÁ follows Garda Conall Ó Súilleabháin (Dónall Ó Héalaí, Monster, Foscadh) as he delves into a 15-year-old mystery involving his own mother’s murder. Alongside true-crime podcaster Ciara-Kate (newcomer Hannah Brady), Conall’s pursuit of justice leads him to confront the silent moral codes of his village.

The series stars Dónall Ó Héalaí, Alex Murphy (The Young Offenders), and Hannah Brady, with a strong supporting cast including Barry McGovern (Obituary), Róisín Murphy (Vikings), Tara Breathnach (Borderline, Dune 2), Caoimhe Farren (The Woman in the Wall), and Alan Mahon (King Frankie). Writers Doireann Ní Chorragáin and Richie Conroy (Fran the Man) and award-winning director Philip Doherty (Redemption of a Rogue) bring their vision to life with stunning results.

Commissioned by TG4 and BBC Northern Ireland, CRÁ was made possible with support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, and Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund. With APC (About Premium Content) as the international distributor, CRÁ stands poised to attract global audiences drawn to the growing trend of foreign-language crime dramas.

Máire Ní Chonláin, Executive Producer and Commissioning Editor for TG4, said: “CRÁ is an evocative drama that’s already resonating with audiences. The creativity and detail of the Donnybrook billboard build on the mystery, adding a unique anticipation for the series.”

Darach Ó Tuairisg, Executive Producer for Fíbín Media, added: “This billboard campaign, with its haunting design and authentic atmosphere, perfectly captures the tone of CRÁ. We’re thrilled by the positive viewer response to the premiere and proud to offer all six episodes on TG4.ie.”
