Funeral of woman killed in St Johnson collision to take place on Wednesday

The funeral of the woman who died after being struck by a lorry in St Johnston is to take place on Wednesday.

Patricia McBrearty, who was in her 80s, died close to her home on Church Street in the village at around 2pm on Friday.

She was the fourth person to die on Donegal’s roads in a week and the12th this year.

The wife of the late Paddy, she is survived by her children Brian (Majella), Tina (Ciaran) and Susie (Geoff), grandchildren Cara, Hannah, PJ and Eimear and her sister Anne Strain.

Originally from Fahan, she was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Kavanagh.

Her wake is taking place at her late residence on Church Street, St Johnston, from 7pm on Monday, September 2 and all day on Tuesday. 

Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, September 4 with requiem Mass at St Baithin’s Church, St Johnston at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
