The following deaths have taken place:

May Doherty (née Gallagher), Letterkenny

The death has taken place at Hillcrest Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 16 2024 of May Doherty, neé Gallagher, ‘Bellvue’, Convent Road, Letterkenny F92 E5W5 and formerly from Swinford, Co. Mayo.

Deeply missed by her loving daughters Patricia and Assumpta, sons John, Bernard and Diarmaid, sons-in-law Stephen and Patsy, daughters-in-law Dolie and Deborah, grandchildren and great-grandchild, brother Tommy (America), sisters Annie (Swinford), Lena (Ballina) and Chris (Dublin), nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.

May is predeceased by her husband Barney (2001), daughter-in-law Noreen (2006), brother Sean Gallagher and sister Peggy Rothwell.

May’s remains will be reposing at her late residence on Tuesday July 16 from 4pm until 10pm and on Wednesday July 17 from 12 noon until 10pm with Rosary both nights at 9pm.

Funeral from there on Thursday July 18 at 10.30am going to St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny.

Interment afterwards in Conwal Cemetery. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.

Sarah Carlton, Rossnowlagh / Edmonton, Canada

The death has occurred of Mrs Sarah Carlton, formerly of Rossnowlagh and Edmonton, who passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024. Predeceased by her dearest husband Robert Carlton, brothers Hugh James (Oodie) Kelly of Rossnowlagh and John Francis Kelly of Rossnowlagh and Glasgow. 

Dearly loved Aunt to Frank, Hugh (Roslyn), Bernadette (Duncan), Lewis and Fraser. Deeply missed by all the Kelly family, extended family relatives, neighbours and all her friends in Edmonton, Scotland and Ireland. 

Funeral will take place in Edmonton, Canada.    

Roseanna Lawler, Castlefin

The death has occurred at her home in Kenton, Harrow, London of Roseanna Lawler, née Crawford, formerly The Raws, Castlefinn.

Beloved wife of Des, much loved mother to John, Claire, Siobhan, Gerard and John Honney, devoted grandmother to John, Conor, Ethan, Isabelle, Oisin, Evelyn, and Éabha , cherished sister of Frances, Charlie, John, Jean, also the late Seamus, Eddie and Marie. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her husband, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, daughters in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at the residence of her sister Frances Mc Menamin, Carrick, Castlefinn, F93 TX24, on Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm.

Funeral leaving from there on Thursday at 11.30am for Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Castlefinn at 12 noon. Interment will take place afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/urneycastlefinnparish

Kathy Campbell, Crossroads and Derry

The peaceful death has occurred at her late residence, surrounded by her loving family of Kathy Campbell, Ballinacor, Crossroads, Killygordon, F93 K24H, and formerly Maghera, County Derry. She was a retired nurse at St Joseph's Hospital, Stranorlar.

Beloved wife of the late Eamon, much loved mother of Mark, Paul, Maeve, Kevin and Claire, cherished sister of Patsy, Neicy Ann, and the late Donald, Dymphna, Marie and Sarah. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons, daughters, brother, sister, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and wide circle of friends.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral leaving from there at 11.30am on Wednesday for Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon at 12 noon. Interment will take place in the adjoining Churchyard. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on https://youtube.com/@killygordonparish

Kathleen Gallagher, Derry and Moville

The death has taken place peacefully at Longfield Care Home, of Kathleen Gallagher, née McLaughlin, of formerly of Nora Frazer Court, Derry and of Moville. 

Beloved wife of the late Leonard, loving mother of Peter, Maurice, Ann, Oonagh and their partners Angela, Claire and Alan, devoted grandmother of Erin, Eoghan, Emily, Bea, Luke, Joe, Áine and the late Ruth, dear daughter of the late James and Margaret and a cherished sister of Margaret and the late Michael, Jean, Helen and Jim.

Kathleen's remains will be reposing at her daughter Oonagh’s home, 235 Lone Moor Road  on Tuesday from 11am to 10pm.

Funeral leaving there on Wednesday at 10.50am to St Columba’s Church, Longtower for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Interment will take place afterwards in the City Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if wished, to Children in Crossfire, 2 St Joseph’s Avenue, Derry, BT48 6TH.

Gerry McFadden, Kildare and Glenswilly

The death has taken place very peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh, of Gerry McFadden, Naas, County Kildare and formerly of Glenswilly. 

Gerry is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Ann and by his two beloved and loving children Simon and Joanna, his adored grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Oisín, Ruby, Conor and Finn, his brother Raymond, his son-in-law Derrick and daughter-in-law Siobhan, his brothers and sisters-in-law, his nephews and nieces and a wide circle of friends.

His remains will repose at his home on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm with prayers at 7pm.

Gerry's funeral will take place on Wednesday with Requiem Mass at 10am in the Church of Our Lady and St David, Naas, followed by burial at St Corban’s Cemetery.

Bríd Ferry, Derrybeg

Fuair Bríd Uí Fhearraigh, Bríd Johny mar a b'fhearr aithne uirthi, as Machaire Chlochair, bás sa bhaile aréir, 14ú Iúil.

Dhéanfar a faire sa bhaile Dé Luain ón 2 a chlog go dtí'n 8 a chlog agus Dé Máirt ón 11 a chlog go dtí'n 8 a chlog. Beidh an paidrín an dá oíche ag a 8 a chlog.

Curfar Bríd i Reilig Mhachaire Gathlán, Dé Céadaoin, i ndiaidh Aifreann Tórraimh ag a 11 a chlog i dTeach Pobail Mhuire sná Doirí Beaga.

The death has taken place at her home of Bríd Ferry, Magheraclogher, Derrybeg.

Predeceased by her husband Owenie; sadly missed by her daughters Susan and Kate, sons Danny, Manus and John, sister Sally, grandchildren Daniel, John, Bryan, Michael, Lari, Sarah, Jack and Áine, sisters-in-law Margaret and Annie and extended family and friends.

Her remains will repose at her home on Tuesday from 11am to 8pm. Rosary will be said at 8pm.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning at 11am in St Mary's Church Derrybeg, with interment afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery.

Mary Hughes, Roscommon, Louth and Clonmany

The death has taken place of Mary Hughes, née McDermott, Boyne Hall, Drogheda, County Louth and formerly of Ballinaheglish, County Roscommon and Clonmany. She passed away peacefully in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents and brothers Eddie and Patsy; beloved wife to Paddy and loving mam to Fearghal and Críona; Mary will be sadly missed by her husband, son, daughter, son-in-law Brian, daughter-in-law Maria, grandchildren Louis, Sophia and Conall, sister Francie, brothers Tommy and Jack, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Her remains reposed in Townley’s Funeral Home, Crosslanes, A92 XN75.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Drogheda, which can be viewed live on - www.saintpetersdrogheda.ie Burial will take place afterwards in Newtown Cross Lawns Cemetery.

Jim Larkin, Letterkenny and London

The death of Jim (James) Larkin, Shepherds Bush, London, formerly of Lower Main Street, Letterkenny. Jim passed away peacefully at home with his loving children present, after an extended period of poor health.

Adored father to Caroline, Amanda and Alan and grandfather to Erin, Lea and Chloe; much loved by Nath, Gavin and Damian and siblings Jack Larkin and wife Marian, Elsie Cavalli, Terry Larkin, Adrian Larkin, Kevin Larkin, Louie Breslin and husband Barney, Joan McGettigan and husband John, and Brendan Larkin.

Jim will be sadly missed by his in-laws Gerry and Chrissie Kenny, Vera and Phil Dapas and Rita Dolan, godchildren Jenny MacDonald and Paul James, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. He is predeceased by his loving wife Laura, his beloved parents Mary Ellen and Jack, siblings Frances Larkin, Dorothy Scudi, Billy Larkin, Celie Whitmore, Al Larkin and Sr Marian Larkin.

Jim will repose in Barnes and Hicks, 123 Askew Road, Shepherds Bush, London, W12 9AU on Thursday, July 25 from 1pm till 3pm.

Removal to the Holy Ghost and St Stephen Church, Ashchurch Grove, London, W12 9BU at 10.45am with Requiem Mass at 11am on Friday, July 26. Burial will take afterwards at Mortlake Cemetery, Clifford Avenue, London, SW14 7BU.
