Letterkenny man pleads guilty to serious assault

A barrister for the accused man said that his client has 'other matters' before the court and that he wished for all charges to 'travel together'

A Letterkenny man has pleaded guilty to a serious assault of another man in the town.

John McGinley was brought to Letterkenny Circuit Court from Castlerea Prison, where he is serving a sentence.

The 19-year-old from Glenwood Park, Letterkenny, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man and causing him harm on October 31, 2022.

McGinley spoke only to plead guilty.

Barrister for McGinley, Mr Colm Smyth SC, said that his client has “other matters” before the court and that he wished for all charges to “travel together”.

Judge John Aylmer remanded McGinley in custody until the next session of Letterkenny District Court.
