Donegal Death and Funeral Notices Wednesday May 15, 2024

The following deaths have taken place:

- Jimmy Bonner, Burtonport

- Angela (Bridget) Gallagher (née O'Donnell) Letterkenny / Lettermacaward

- Phyllis Grier (née Boyce), Ramelton

- John Coyle, Preston and Ballyarr

Jimmy Bonner, Burtonport

The death has occurred of Jimmy Bonner Burtonport, F94 A6W2 after a long illness. Sadly missed by his wife Margaret Rose, children Mary (Joe) Triona (Musa) Derek (Lorraine) and Sinead, his grandchildren Debbie, Nicole, Gemma, Ryan, Matthew, Sinatalahi, Tori, Alyiatt, Leon, Cassie and his great-grandchildren Caleb, Senan, Calian and Saorlaith, his two nephews Shane and Garrett and his cousins and extended family.

His remains will repose in Mc Glynn’s Funeral Parlour Dungloe F94 ND68 on Thursday, May 16, from 11am to rosary at 8pm followed by a private removal to his family home. Wake on Friday from 11am with rosary at 9pm.

Funeral service on Saturday, May 18, at 11am in St Columba’s Church, Acres, Burtonport followed by interment in Belcruit Cemetery.

Edmund Doherty (Riley), Clonmany

The death has occurred at his home of Edmund Doherty (Riley), Main Street, Clonmany, F93 N6C5.

Deeply regretted and sorely missed by his loving wife Ann, children Sharon, Yvonne, Edmund, Elaine and Emer, sons and daughters in law Tom, Patrick, Tracey, Brendan and Eddie, much loved and adored grandchildren Caolan, Amy, Matthew, David, Alana, Andrew, Conor, Emily, Ben, Thomas, Niamh and Noah, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Bridget, brother Denis and nephew Denis.

His remains will be reposing at his late residence from 3pm today, Wednesday May 15.

Funeral from there on Friday at 10.40am going to St Mary’s Church, Clonmany for Requiem Mass at 11am with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family time please from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the Funeral.

Family flowers only.

Donations if desired to the Donegal Hospice Palliative Care Team or Clonmany Community First Responders C/O Any family.

The Doherty Family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Inishowen Medical Centre, Brennan's Pharmacy, Donegal Hospice Palliative Care Team,his carers and all who have supported Edmund in any way throughout his illness.

Letitia McDaid Altashane, Carndonagh

The peaceful death has occurred of Letitia (Lettie) McDaid Altashane, Carndonagh, at Carndonagh Community Hospital.

Predeceased by loving husband John. Much loved mother of Shaun, Bridget, Marjory, Rosemary, Teresa, Michael and Kay.

Deeply regretted by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence, Altashane, F93F8C4.

Removal from there on Friday at 10.20am going to Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh for requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Requiem Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to Carndonagh Community Hospital c/o any family member or Kelly’s Funeral Directors. Family time please from 11pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Paul Barclay, Fintown and formerly Newtownards, Co. Down

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Paul Barclay, Fintown and formerly of Newtownards, Co. Down. Predeceased by his parents Ruby and Des. Beloved father to Dualbhta.

Stepfather to Simone and Aaron McMullan. Deeply regretted by his brother John Barclay, sister-in-law Suzanne and Paula McMullan, extended family and close friends.

Paul reposing at the home of Paula McMullan, (F94W288) Clós Naomh Chonaill, Glenties on Wednesday, May 15, until 11pm.

Removal on Thursday at 1.30pm to Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan for cremation at 4pm.

Angela (Bridget) Gallagher (née O'Donnell) Letterkenny / Lettermacaward /Bruckless

The sad passing has occurred of Angela (Bridget) Gallagher (nèe O'Donnell),  6 Knocknamona Cresent, Letterkenny and formerly of Darney Bruckless and Drimlaughdrid, Lettermacaward.

Deeply regretted by her daughters Caroline (Stephen), Mairead, sons Niall (Marie) and Francis and their father Neily.

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jamie, Enya, Annie, Pauric, Adian, the O'Donnell and Gallagher families and all her neighbours, relatives and friends.

Her remains will repose at Shovlins Funeral Home, Sandfield, Wednesday, from 4pm followed by removal to St Brigid's Church, Lettermacaward arriving at 8pm to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 12noon with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Phyllis Grier (née Boyce), Ramelton

The death has occurred of Phyllis Grier (née Boyce), The Glen, Ramelton, Donegal, F92 TF72, May 14, 2024, at her home. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Andrew, daughters Una (Tom), Monica (Alastair) and Marnie, sons Andy, George (Martina), James (Aisling), Liam, John (Aoife), David and Eunan (Claire), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Eileen, Mollie and Patsie, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by her daughter Patricia, parents, brothers and sisters.

Reposing at her home. Requiem Mass on Thursday, May 16, at 11am in St Peter’s Church, Milford. Burial afterwards in Tully Cemetery.

John Coyle, Preston and Ballyarr

The death has taken place at the age of 73 of John Coyle, originally from Gortnavern, Ballyarr, then Preston UK. He passed paway suddenly following respiratory illness at Chorley Hospital, Lancashire on April 20. A retired property developer, certainly one of a kind, once met never forgotten.

Deeply missed by partner Heather and sons Patrick, Jonathan and Simon. Cherished grandfather of Rosie, Hannah, Jude, Bonnie, Eve and Vincent. Sadly missed by aunts Nora and Veronica, sisters Valerie and Anna, along with cousins and many friends in the Donegal area.

Requiem Mass at St Oswald’s RC Church Longton Preston UK on Friday, May 17 at 10.30am.

Family flowers, donations kindly received in John’s memory to St Catherine’s Hospice, Preston c/o the Funeral Director Mr Neal Buckley Preston.
