Monopoly Junior is now available in 'as Gaeilge' having been launched in Letterkenny.

Crowds gathered to enjoy the vibrant 'Lá Spraoi na Gaeilge' event organised by Glór na nGael's family department in partnership with the Líonra Leitir Ceanainn.

Monopoly Junior is a simplified version of the traditional, famous board game aimed at young players aged five to eight years. It helps them develop mathematical skills as well as social skills through interactive play with other children and adults. They will also begin to learn about managing money and strategic thinking.

Parents, guardians, and teachers will certainly enjoy trading, collecting rent, and buying and selling properties like 'an phictiúrlann' (the cinema), 'an zú' (the zoo), and 'an pháirc súgartha' (the playground).

TV presenter Seosamh Mac Seoin from Cúla4 was the special guest who launched the game. Mac Seoin praised Glór na nGael and Siopa Údar for developing the Irish version of Monopoly Junior.

"From my work with Cúla4, I understand very well the importance of providing resources, facilities, and opportunities for children to use and practice their language," he said.

"This version of Monopoly Junior is just as good, if not even better, than the normal versions, as it is in Irish. It will be a valuable resource for both schools and families. I hope it will inspire a new generation to love the Irish language, helping to nurture and strengthen our beautiful language."

Present at the launch was Pádraig Mac Grianna on behalf of An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta, who assisted in funding this project.

The game is now available online at www.siopaudar.ie and will soon be available at retailers across the country. Visit the website for more information and to purchase your copy.

Líonra Leitir Ceanainn is a local organisation established to promote the Irish language in Letterkenny and further afield.

Glór na nGael is one of six national Lead Organisations for the Irish language. Glór na nGael was given responsibility for promoting the Irish language in the Family Setting; in Business and Enterprise; in Community Development.
