A learner driver is set to feel the wrath of the law after a number of defects were detected by Carndonagh gardai on Friday morning.
The officers were initially alerted to the vehicle by the Active Mobility app.
The car was being driven by a learner driver who was not displaying L plates.
The tax expired three years ago and there was no insurance or NCT. The car also had two bald tyres.
“The car was seized and the driver will now have to face the consequences of their inaction,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Gardai have urged drivers to make sure that their documents are up to date and have issued a warning over tyre safety.
A spokesperson said: “Please check your tyres regularly and even more regularly when the tread depth reaches 3mm.
“The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm. The more worn your tyres become, the less grip they will have on the road surface.”
