Gardaí are conducting high visibility patrols and checkpoints across the Donegal division today as part of St. Patrick's Bank Holiday weekend.

They are appealing to everyone to drive safely and are asking everyone to please celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a safe and responsible manner.

“Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, do not speed and always wear your seatbelt,” they said. “The results of drink/drug driving and/or speed can be devastating. Leave your mobile phone well out of reach when driving. Never take unnecessary risks on the roads. We hope that you all have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and please stay safe whether on or off the roads.”
