Twelve contestants take to the stage of The Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey as the Balor Developmental Community Arts (DCA) host Autism’s Got Talent on Friday March 22.
The event, inspired by a similar initiative undertaken in the UK by Anna Kennedy 13 years ago - who was subsequently awarded an OBE for her efforts - is designed to showcase the talent of the participants and demonstrate the power and inclusivity that the arts offer society as a whole.
Anna has been in contact with Balor DCA’s coordinator Caroline Bell to offer support and advice.
She said: “We firmly believe that the enjoyment of the arts should be for everyone. Working with young people on the spectrum we’ve seen the benefits that come with giving them the space and the stage to mine their own creativity. This is a first for us here at The Balor and we’re very excited for what we are sure will be an enormously entertaining and rewarding show for acts and audience members alike.”
Acts on the night will include singers, voice impressionists, comedians, instrumentalists, and Irish dancers.
Autism’s Got Talent takes place on Friday March 22 at 8pm. Tickets priced €12 (€10 concession) are available from The Balor Arts Centre Box Office on 0749131840 or online at the Balor website.
