A rising Donegal mixed martial artist faces charges of assault and possessing drugs.
Jordan Furey from Letterkenny, who has won two professional MMA fights, appeared in court this week.
The 24-year-old from Glenwood Park in Letterkenny is charged in relation to incidents dated November 26, 2023.
Furey is charged with a section 3 assault at Voodoo Venue, Letterkenny.
When conveyed to Letterkenny Garda Station on the night in question, Furey was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis.
Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of further charging Furey in respect of the cannabis possession. Furey made no reply when charged, the court heart.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the State needed time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Furey, who was present in court, was represented by solicitor Mr Ciaran Haran.
Noting that directions were awaited, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham adjourned the matter until May 20, 2024.
Furey was remanded on bail.
Furey was 10-2 as an amateur mixed martial artist and turned professional in 2023.
He trained out of the famed Straight Blast Gym (SBG), the home of UFC star Conor McGregor, for stoppage wins over Gabriel Marcel da Silva and Rogger Lopez at Clan Wars events in Belfast.
