Deaths in Donegal, Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024

The following deaths have taken place:

Caroline Dickson, Fahan and Derry

Joe Doherty, Carndonagh

Sadie Arnold, formerly Curraghamone and St. Vincent’s Close, Ballybofey

The death has occurred at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, Stranorlar of Sadie Arnold, formerly Curraghamone and St. Vincent’s Close, Ballybofey. Beloved wife of the late Tony and much loved mother to Tony (Kathleen), Brigid (Eugene), John (Noreen). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Remains reposing at Mc Cool’s Chapel of Rest, Ballybofey on Tuesday February 20 from 6pm to 10pm and Wednesday February 21 from 5pm to 10pm. Rosary both nights at 9pm. Funeral leaving from there on Thursday February 22 at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar. Interment in Drumboe Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.churchservices.tv/stranorlar

Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired, to Barnes View Ward, St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, care of any family member.

Charlie McGinley, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Charlie McGinley, 8 Iona Rd., Letterkenny, (F92 KHN8), school master, artist and fiddler originally from Rann na Feirste. Survived by his wife Eileen, his five daughters and four sons, eighteen grandchildren and his sisters, Róisín and Margaret.

Reposing at his late home from 6pm to 9pm this evening, Tuesday, February 20, and from 12pm until 9pm on Wednesday, 21st with Rosary each night at 9pm. Funeral from there on Thursday, February 22, going to St. Eunan’s Cathedral for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed live at https://www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.

Family time please on the morning of the funeral.

Bobby Tan, Kilmacloo, Creeslough F92HW11

The death has occurred of Bobby Tan, Kilmacloo, Creeslough F92HW11. A much loved husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister and sisters-in-law.

Reposing at his home in Kilmacloo, F92HW11.

Open to the public on Tuesday, February 20 and Wednesday, February 21 from 11am to 10pm.

Funeral Mass in St. Michael's Church, Creeslough, on Thursday, February 22 at 11am. Mass can be viewed live on https://mcn.live/Camera/st-michaels-church 

Burial afterwards in Doe Cemetery. Family time on the morning of the funeral. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to St Vincent de Paul Creeslough c/o any family member or James Harkin Funeral Directors, Creeslough.

Harry Diver, Carnagarve, Moville

The death has taken place at his home of Harry Diver, Carnagarve, Moville.

Harry’s remains repose at his home where you are welcome to pay your respects.

Harry’s Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Ballybrack followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Family time please from 11pm to 11am.

Antoinette Boyce (née Doherty), Gulladuff, Moville

The death has taken place at her home of Antoinette Boyce (née Doherty), Gulladuff, Moville.

Antoinette’s remains are reposing at her home.

Antoinette’s Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday at 11am in St Pius X Church, Moville followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 4pm.

Family time please from 10pm to 10am.

Billy Doherty, Whitecastle Quigleys Point

The death has taken place peacefully at his home of Billy Doherty, Whitecastle Quigleys Point.

House strictly private, please.

Service of Thanksgiving will take place at his home at 1.30pm on Wednesday followed by removal at 2pm for burial in the family plot in Redcastle Burial Ground.

Family flowers only please donations if desired to the Foyle Search and Rescue c/o any family member.

Caroline Dickson, Fahan and Derry

The death has occurred of Caroline Dickson, F.R.I.A.I., R.I.B.A., of Fahan and Derry City. She died at Buncrana Community Hospital after a short illness.

Predeceased by her parents Christine (née Dunne) and Peter Dickson. A much loved cousin, fondly and sadly missed by her many friends, colleagues and her beloved Fahan community.

Removal to St Mura’s, Church of Ireland, Fahan, arriving 2.30pm on Thursday.

Joe Doherty, Carndonagh

The death has taken place at University Hospital Galway of Joe Doherty (Jack), Malin Road, Carndonagh. F93YXR2.

Beloved husband of Mary, and much-loved father of Caroline, Maria, Joanne, Bernadette and John. Deeply regretted by his daughters, son, sisters, brothers, grandchildren and extended family.

His remains are reposing at his home. House private please from 10pm until 11am. 

Funeral leaving there on Wednesday at 10.30am going to Sacred Heart Church Carndonagh for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Joe’s Requiem Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to University Hospital Galway Patient’s Comfort Fund or any family member.
