Met Éireann says that Donegal and the west coast will get the biggest brunt of Storm Jocelyn today, with an Orange Wind Warning in place tonight.
Donegal felt the brunt of Storm Isha on Sunday night, and although Jocelyn will land with considerable force, it is not expected to be as bad.
That said, Storm Jocelyn will entail the potential of large coastal waves with wave overtopping, very difficult travelling conditions, fallen trees, damage to power lines and damage to already weakened structures. The weather warning is in place from Tuesday at 6pm until 2am Wednesday.
It will be wet and windy as Jocelyn tracks to the northwest of Ireland, with very strong and gusty southwesterly winds that will develop through the day. There will be widespread rain during the morning and afternoon, followed by scattered showers in the evening - highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
“Strong winds continuing for a time Tuesday night with the very strong and gusty southwest to west wind easing overnight,” they say. “Clear spells and scattered showers at first, becoming isolated as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.
“Mainly dry with sunny spells on Wednesday, showers will be isolated in the west and north. Moderate to fresh westerly winds in the north at first, steadily easing during the day and becoming light southerly later. Highest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees.”
