"Cars are getting stuck in the snow and some drivers are losing control of their car while travelling in the town. Please avoid travelling to or within the town until conditions improve. Please stay safe."

The Long Lane is said to have a lot of cars suffering difficulties while it has been reported that there are four lorries stuck on Lurgybrack and a gritter has gone off the road.

A Moderate Weather Warning for low temperature for Donegal was issued by Met Eireann, which is in place until 12 noon on Thursday. It says: "Very cold with severe frost and icy stretches, Impact includes difficult travelling conditions and low temperature issues for vulnerable people."
