Garda forensic collision investigators are continuing to examine the scene of yesterday evening’s fatal road traffic collision outside Letterkenny.
A female pedestrian, aged in her 20s, lost her life when she was struck by a vehicle at Illistrin.
The N56 road between Letterkenny and Kilmacrennan will remain closed to enable garda investigators carry out a full examination of the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision, close to the Ballyare junction at Illistrin, just before 7pm.
Divisions remain in place and gardai are appealing for information about the incident.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N56 in the Illistrin area between 6:00pm and 7:15pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda station on 074 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
