The Letterkenny-Trentagh road will remain closed until the New Year after a road collapsed on a bridge on Wednesday night.

A hole ‘the size of a lorry tyre’ appeared in the road, which has now been closed at Bradley’s farm.

Traffic diversions are now in place and motorists are advised that there are several alternative routes to choose from.

“I have been on site this morning and the road collapsed,” Independent Councillor Michael McBride told Donegal Live.

“The hole is around the size of a lorry tyre. I have spoken with Brendan Walsh, our overseer in the Letterkenny municipal area, and he has spoken with Donal Walker in road design.

“This road will remain closed into the new year and alternative routes will be in place until then.”
