A night to celebrate the contributions of Dr James McDaid to medicine, sport and politics will take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, on Friday, January 19.

Tickets for the event, which includes a four-course dinner, are €40. Doors open at 7 pm, with dress code smart casual. Dr. McDaid retired as a doctor in June after serving the people of Letterkenny and Donegal for 50 years.

At the start of 2023, St Eunan's GAA Club honoured Dr McDaid when naming the stand at O'Donnell Park after him. Dr McDaid's 21-year political career began in 1989 when he was elected as a TD for the Donegal North East constituency. He was Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation from 1997 to 2002 and served as Minister of State for Transport from 2002 to 2004.

His support for sports clubs, groups and organisations throughout Donegal was crucial in the delivery of their projects. Tickets can be purchased at Sister Sara's in Letterkenny, or the Mount Errigal Hotel, tel. 074- 91 22700.
