Poignantly chosen local groups to benefit from Christmas event in Letterkenny

The Annual Karaoke Christmas Jumper Party will take place on Friday week and it has poignantly chosen to support two incredibly worthy causes this year.

The event, which will take place at the Swilly Inn in Letterkenny on December 22, will raise monies for the Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club and Donegal Mountain Rescue Team.

Emma Boylan, a social media strategist who owns Outside the Box, is part of the Jumper Party Team and is instrumental in sourcing so many of the prizes. 

In September, her father Kevin was taken by Donegal Mountain Rescue from the top of Errigal by the Rescue 118 helicopter before he sadly passed away. Kevin was a volunteer with Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club and  Sheephaven Search and Recovery for over 30 years.

“We've heard of both groups carrying out heroic work, especially in the last year and we were grateful to be able to support them in a very small way,” said Claire Moore, one of the event organisers along with Louise Toner.

“In honor of Kevin Boylan's commitment and service, our team decided to direct our support towards these two remarkable charities. Sheephaven SAC is not only dedicated to recreational scuba diving but also operates a fully trained community-based volunteer Search and Recovery Unit, offering assistance in times of water-based tragedies.

“The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team, comprised entirely of volunteers, provides a crucial emergency response in remote environments and extreme terrains throughout the County of Donegal in Ireland. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, this dedicated team relies solely on grants and public donations to sustain their operations, covering equipment replacement, training, and day-to-day running costs.

“All funds raised by the Karaoke Christmas Jumper Party will go directly to supporting these vital causes. The Sheephaven SAC Search and Recovery and Donegal Mountain Rescue Team are not only organisations that save lives but embody the spirit of community and selflessness that Kevin Boylan exemplified throughout his years of service.”

The event has been running since 2009 and will be hosted by Adam Moore with DJ Dano - Daniel McGarrigle - providing the entertainment.
