Station roundabout, Letterkenny
Two men who jumped into a car at a Letterkenny roundabout and insisted on being dropped off at a hotel may have stolen the driver's phone.
Gardaí who are investigating the matter are asking people who were in the area and those who may have footage that could be of interest to them to contact them. Gardaí have received a report from a man in relation to the theft of his phone from his car in Letterkenny on Saturday, June 17. Between 1.15am and 1.25am in the early hours of Saturday the man had driven down the De Valera Road in his black VW Jetta and had turned right to travel in the direction of the Station roundabout.
He was travelling in the far left lane as he approached the station roundabout and there was a man
standing out on the road in his lane as he approached the pedestrian traffic lights so he had to come to a stop. This man on the road was described as being approximately 6 foot tall, of a slim build, with strawberry blonde coloured hair and was wearing a check shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. This man proceeded to jump into the passenger seat of the man’s car.
Another man who had been standing on the footpath and who was described as being
approximately 5 foot 9 inches in height, of a heavy build and who was wearing a black t-shirt and
black jeans jumped into the back seat. They asked the man to leave them to a hotel in the
town. They were very persistent and so he agreed. He dropped them at the hotel and a
few minutes after they exited the car he realised that his silver iphone 11 Pro had been
stolen.
Gardaí are appealing to anybody who may have observed these two men on the footpath, on
the road or getting into the black VW Jetta at that location to contact gardaí in Letterkenny.
Taxi drivers usually park in the carpark across from where these two men were standing and
gardaí are hopeful that some of them may have captured them on their dash cam
footage. If that is the case we ask them to please make contact with Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 91 67100.
Should anybody come across a similar type of phone for sale then we ask them to contact us immediately.
