Water outages in the Rosbracken-Raymochy areas of Manorcunningham today have provoked an angry reaction from local councillor Donal Mandy Kelly.

"I have contacted Irish Water and they have assured me that they will have the problem resolved and help is on its way. But this is absolutely shocking.

"I have it in black and white, an email from Irish Water stating that they are aware that the pipes in this area are outdated and need replacing. Yet these residents are having to suffer time and time again.

"There are farmers, families and the elderly suffering for years with water outages and it's absolutely shocking.

"These residents had no water on Christmas Day, St Patrick's Day and now again on Easter Sunday. Irish Water has to put its hands up here and act on this major issue as a matter of urgency.

He added he was now happy that after all his lobbying on this issue for the Mannorcunnigham, Bomany, Newmills and Conwal areas Irish Water has finally committed to a face-to-face meeting.

"But it's time they set a time and date to get around the table and I will be looking for that at this Tuesday's Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District meeting.

"This carry-on can't go on. The local residents are at their wit's end and rightly so this is absolutely shocking stuff. I will continue to apply pressure on Irish Water to have them around the table as soon as possible to get these ongoing issues resolved as soon as possible," he added.
