The public space at An Grianán Theatre is set to be named after the late Dessie Larkin.
A former Councillor and Mayor of Letterkenny, Dessie Larkin passed away in March, 2019.
Independent Councillor Kevin Bradley has tabled a motion to this month's meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District calling for the forecourt at the theatre to be called after the late Councillor Dessie Larkin.
A former director of An Grianán Theatre, he also sat on the board of the Earagail Arts Festival, which held numerous events on the outdoor space at An Grianán Theatre.
Just last summer, Donegal County Council was granted €137,000 for the provision of outdoor dining infrastructure outside An Grianan Theatre, including a platform seating area and a weather-resistant canopy.
Dessie Larkin served for a time as Mayor of Letterkenny and worked as the Town Centre Manager prior to his untimely death.
He had been campaigning for greater use of the public space at the theatre on the Port Road.
The motion will go before Tuesday's MD meeting.
