A Rathmullan woman has been appointed as the Director of Public Prosecution's prosecutor for Donegal.

Barrister Fiona Crawford is already a well-known face in the Donegal and Dublin courts.

Ms Crawford, the daughter of the late Joe and Patsy Crawford, qualified as a barrister in 2000.

She officially started in her new role this week during the current term of the Letterkenny Circuit Court before Judge John Aylmer.

She succeeds former local state prosecutor Ms Patricia McLaughlin.

Ms Crawford said she was honoured and privileged to be selected for the role.

She has been prosecuting for the Director of Public Prosecutions since 2017 on the Dublin Prosecutor's Panel and prior to that was on the Director of Public Prosecution's Bail Panel since 2006.
