DM Waste.
A waste collection company in Donegal has issued a warning to householders about contaminated recycling bins.
DM Waste, based at Labbadish on the outskirts of Letterkenny, has told customers that contaminated recycling bins will not be collected.
“In recent months, we have noticed a high rate of contamination in the recycling bins,” DM Waste told customers.
“Our staff are checking the bins and if the recycling bins are contaminated, they will not be collected.”
DM Waste say they are ‘committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling and composting’.
Householders are advised that glass, waste, food waste, nappies, ashes, toilet items, black bin bags, clothes, shoes, carpets and electrical items are not permitted in recycling bins.
Items that are acceptable are cardboard, tins, cans, paper including tetra packs, hard and soft plastics and tin foil.
