Irish golfer Shane Lowry shared a touching moment with the family of fellow PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler's family just minutes after coming off the course at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Lowry went into the final day in the final pairing tied for the lead with American Scheffler but soon found himself behind. The Offaly man was two over for his round early on Sunday as Scheffler reeled off a series of birdies to take a commanding lead.

Scheffler won on 15 under par while Lowry was third on nine under par. Wyndham Clark split the pair in second on ten under par. The result lifts Lowry back into the World's Top 50 in rankings.

As Lowry walked off course, obviously somewhat disappointed, he shared a touching moment with Scottie Scheffler's wife and parents. He was praised for his sportsmanship as he congratulated them and Scheffler's wife Meredith.

"He's pretty good at golf," he said as he hugged Scottie's dad and later his mother. Meredith then complimented Shane's own daughters and wife, saying his girls are "just the cutest."

She described Shane's wife Wendy as "amazing" before Shane said, "You're husband is amazing at golf, unfortunately for the rest of us."

The moment won Shane high praise after a clip was shared by the PGA Tour. One fan said: "Typical Shane Lowry, always a gentleman."

Another added: "Love Shane Lowry. Great dude and great golfer."
