The GAA community in Donegal is mourning the loss of Naomh Conaill and St Eunan's clubman Connie Maguire who passed away on Thursday in his home in Lismonaghan, Letterkenny.

Mr Maguire was involved in the GAA throughout his life, winning an Ulster Minor League medal with the Donegal minor county team in 1962.

After leaving Glenties, he began an apprenticeship with the ESB in Letterkenny and became actively involved with the St Eunan’s club, where he was a well-liked and dedicated member.

He will be forever loved and missed by his heartbroken wife Ursula (née Crawford) and his daughters Michelle Yeates, Caroline Spillane, and Joanne Cahill, his sons-in-law, Kevin, Tony, and John, his brothers Dom, Gerard, Enda, Patrick, Brendan and sisters Dolores Garden, Dympna Wordie, Colette Devine and Rosie Whelehan, his sisters-in-law, Fay, Elaine, Christine and Patricia, brothers-in-law Billy, Graham, Kevin and David, and Mary and Paul Kennedy and Gerard Luttrell.

He was a beloved grandfather to Emily, Michael, Rory, Rachel, and Orla.

Mr Maguire will be reposing at his home this evening, Thursday, September 12, from 6pm to 9pm, and on Friday, September 13, from 12 noon to 9pm.

His funeral will take place on Saturday, with Requiem Mass at 11am at St Eunan’s Cathedral. The service will be live-streamed on www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny, followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.
