Sean MacCumhaill’s prove too strong for St Eunan's in U-14 Hurling A final

The Letterkenny side put up a reasonable fight in the first half where the winners led by 2-3 to 2-1 playing into the breeze, but the MacCumhaill's side found scores with ease in the second half as they left Convoy on Thursday night 20-point winners

A very well drilled and clinical Sean MacCumhaill’s side had far too much power and panache as they outgunned St Eunan’s in the U-14 hurling A Championship decider in the Donegal GAA Centre of Excellence in Convoy.

The Letterkenny side put up a reasonable fight in the first half where the winners led by 2-3 to 2-1 playing into the breeze as the darkness loomed.

Thankfully the floodlights were put on for the second half which also saw the floodgates opening for Eunan’s as the Twin Towns’ side added four goals and were generally dominant.

MacCumhaill’s were quick out of the blocks and had a point and a goal from Matthew Dowds and Peter Austen respectively.

Sean Óg Hannigan and the nippy Lee McGranghan had two similar scores to put MacCumhaill’s into a 2-2 to 0-0 lead before Eunan’s opened their scoring from a Setanta Lennon free in the 20th minute.

A free from the same player went all the way to the MacCumhaill’s net to leave the Twin Towns’ side leading by 2-3 to 1-1 as Andrew Tourish got their final point of the half.

Lennon added another goal from a free to leave MacCumhaill’s leading by 2-3 to 2-1 at half time.

The second half was very one-sided despite the best efforts of Eunan’s players Lennon, Colm Óg Breathnach and Dualta Heron.

Zack Carroll, Andrew Tourish, Dara McIntyre, and Matthew Dowds got goals for MacCumhaill’s while McGranaghan, Óg Hannigan, Carroll, and Tourish landed points.

St Eunan’s had a pointed free from Lennon which was their sole score for the second half.

Sean MacCumhaill’s scorers: Lee McGrenaghan, Zack Carroll, Matthew Dowds, and Andrew Tourish 1-2 each; Dara McIntyre 1-1; Peter Austen 1-0; Caolan Gillespie 0-1. St Eunan’s scorers: Setanta Lennon 2-2.
