Peadar Mogan in action against Joe McElroy of Armagh
Donegal star and St Naul’s man Peadar Mogan has been named GAA.ie Footballer of the Week for his superb performance in his side’s Ulster final win over Armagh.
Mogan was one of Donegal’s most inspirational players on the day, scoring two points in his team’s penalty shootout win against Kieran McGeeney’s Orchard County, following a 0-20 to 0-20 point draw after extra-time.
The St Naul’s man knocked over the second point of the afternoon for Jim McGuinness’s team on the 11th minute of the match in Clones. His second point came in the first 30 seconds in the second period of extra-time when he leveled the contest 0-18 points apiece.
Mogan’s teammates, Shaun Patton, Caolan McGonagle, Daire O Baoill, Michael Langan, Niall O’ Donnell, and Oisin Gallen are also named in this week’s GAA Team of the Week.
The Donegal star received 4,537 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Louth's Conor Grimes (3,869) and Dublin's Brian Fenton (2,713).
This is now the third championship week in-a-row that a Donegal player has won the award, with Daire Ó Baoill winning the honour following his side’s win against Derry in the opening round of the Ulster campaign, while Ryan McHugh took the award in Donegal’s semi-final win over Tyrone.
