Aodh Ruadh 1-3
St Eunan's 0-11
Seven points from Eoin McGeehin against Aodh Ruadh helped St Eunan’s to a fourth straight All-County Football League Division 1 win.
The Letterkenny side controlled much of the contest early on, with McGeehin in sparking form up front, while Jack Gallagher was the man the hosts turned to in the Ballyshannon sunshine.
After an opening-day loss in Towney, St Eunan’s have beaten Naomh Columba, Sean MacCumhaill’s, Glenswilly and now Aodh Ruadh, while Conor Cunningham’s team have three points from their four outings.
On 16 minutes, with Jake Whelan having won a fine turnover, it set McGeehin away to turn a couple of defenders inside and then out to point his third of the day. Dylan Doogan, who would pop over three himself, had also scored an early St Eunan’s point by then.
It was, though, only a score to put St Eunan’s in front at 0-4 to 1-0 as although Aodh Ruadh may not have as much of the ball, they produced the only goal on nine minutes when Gallagher finished well when set up by Eoghan Kelly.
By 25 minutes, St Eunan’s, who had the breeze, went into a lead of 0-6 to 1-0, with McGeehin’s first free and a well-taken point from an acute angle by Eoin Dowling. Doogan added another with the last knick of the half, which took a little while to decide whether it was over or not, and it made for a four-point interval lead.
Five minutes into part two, a marked point from Gallagher was Aodh Ruadh’s first-pointed score. He, and McGeehin, would add two more apiece by the 50th minute, which made the score Aodh Ruadh 1-3 to St Eunan’s 0-9.
McGeehin landed his seventh of the day before Doogan, with his third, wrapped up the win on the road.
