Donegal players Niamh McLaughlin and Evelyn McGinley hope to finish their 2024 league campaign with a win this weekend
Donegal boss John McNulty has named his side for this weekend’s Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 2 clash with Tipperary in Fethard.
There’s just pride to play for here as both sides wrap up their Division 2 campaigns when they clash this Sunday.
Donegal make one change to their starting 15 this week with Patrice Boyle coming in at centre-half back for Katie Dowds, who scored two points last week in her side’s win over Cavan.
Neither county can make the Divisional final, with Kildare and Tyrone already through, but both sides will use this fixture to provide valuable game time to players ahead of the provincial championships.
Both counties come into this one on the back of victories last time out, with McNulty’s side easing their way past Cavan on St Patrick’s Day on a scoreline of 4-20 to 0-5 points.
Donegal currently sit in third position on 10 points having lost two matches and drawn one out of their previous six, but cannot achieve promotion, with Tyrone just ahead of them, but on 14 points, meaning Donegal will play next season in Division 2.
It’s expected to be a tight affair this weekend with Tipperary just behind Donegal in the league table on nine points, but McNulty will not want to leave the Premier County without anything less than a win, as they prepare for their championship season.
Donegal side to play Tipperary: Claire Friel; Shannon McLaughlin, Abigail Temple Asokuh, Evelyn McGinley; Caoimhe Keon, Patrice Boyle, Tara Hegarty; Roisin Rogers, Niamh Boyle; Amy Boyle Carr, Niamh McLaughlin, Katie Long; Suzanne White, Katie Herron, Jodie McFadden.
