Death notices and funeral arrangements for Donegal on Friday evening, January 2

The following deaths have taken place:

- Margaret Gibbons, Ballyshannon

- Mae Wisely Craig, Ballindrait

- Bridie Devlin, Clonmany and Coventry

- Paul Burns, Buncrana

- Gretta Alcorn, Dunfanaghy

- Bridie Marley, Cloghan Mór

- Mary Therese Celine Patton, Convoy

Margaret Gibbons, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Margaret Gibbons, College Street, Ballyshannon.

She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents John and Teresa, her brother Dan, and infant brother John James

Forever loved and sadly missed by her loving niece Sheila, nephews Sean and Brian, sister-in-law Ann, cousins and all extended family and friends.

Reposing at her late residence. Removal on Monday at 10.45am to arrive at St. Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am with service of interment in the Abbey Assaroe Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Margaret if so desired to the Palliative care team, Sligo c/o Patrick McKenna Funeral Directors or any family member.

The Funeral mass shall be streamed live here. House Private Please.

Mae Wisely Craig, Ballindrait

The death has taken place at her home of Mae Wisely Craig, Gortnagole, Ballindrait F93HX6K.

Predeceased by her husband Sam and granddaughter Joanne.

Mae will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Norman, Alan (Olive), Lesley (Veronica), Peter and daughter Elizabeth (Joe), her seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren

Reposing at her home.

Funeral leaving from her home on Saturday at 1.30pm going to Ballindrait Presbyterian Church, for 2pm Service of Thanksgiving for her life, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Family time please on the morning of the funeral.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired to the Donegal Hospice, care of Terence McClintock Funeral Director.

Bridie Devlin, Clonmany and Coventry

The peaceful death has occurred of Bridie Devlin (née McGeoghegan) in Coventry, England and formerly of Ballymageehan, Isle of Doagh, Clonmany. She passed away surrounded by her loving family.

Devoted Mother to Jackie, Bernie, Julie, Kathleen, Carmel and Michael.

Cherished grandmother to Jack, Lewis, Matthew, Niamh and Aisling.

Loving mother in law to Jim, Sharon and Charlie.

Her remains will repose at her daughter Carmel’s home, Upper Annaugh, Clonmany (F93HT26) on Sunday, January 4 at 2.00pm, where all are welcome to pay respects.

Funeral from there on Monday morning at 10.30am going to St Mary’s Church, Clonmany for Requiem Mass at 11.00am with burial afterwards in the new cemetery.

Paul Burns, Buncrana

The death has occurred in the Donegal Hospice of Paul Burns, 39 Crana View Buncrana.

Sadly missed by his wife Margaret, his children Kevin, Amanda and Sean, and his grandchildren Rachel, Sophie, Stephen, Roisin and Paul, and his wider family circle.

His remains are reposing at his residence.

Leaving there on Saturday at 10.15am for 11 o’clock mass in St Mary’s Church, Cockhill.

Burial will take place in the adjoining graveyard.

House private from 9pm to 10am.

Mass can be viewed live on www.church services.tv/cockhill.

Gretta Alcorn, Dunfanaghy

The death has taken place of Gretta (Margaretta Barton) Alcorn, née Stewart, 14 New Cottage Road, Dunfanaghy, F92 TW42.

Beloved mother to Tracey and husband Gary, Geoffrey and partner Anna, grandchildren Eirinn, Sandy and Charley, she is predeceased by her loving husband Arthur (Gusty 2013). Deeply loved and fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her home on Thursday from 3pm to 10pm and on Friday from 12 noon to 10pm for family and close friends only please. Family time please from 10pm to 12 noon and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Service in Holy Trinity Church, Hornhead Road, Dunfanaghy, on Saturday at 1pm with burial afterwards in Clondahorkey Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to St Vincent de Paul c/o any family member or James Harkin Funeral Director.

Bridie Marley, Cloghan Mór

The peaceful death has taken place of Bridie Marley, née Harkin, of Cloghan Mór, Cloghan F93 HK52.

Predeceased by her loving husband Patrick; much loved Mother of Helen (Willie), Mary (Pete), Lavina (Terry), Patrica (Shaun), Joe (Carol) and Francie (Bernie); devoted grandmother to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bridie will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends.

Bridie's remains are reposing at her home on Thursday and Friday from 12noon to 9pm, with Rosary each night at 9pm. House private at all other times and on the morning of the funeral.

Removal on Saturday to the Church of Our Lady of Prepetual Succour Glenfin for Requiem Mass at 1pm, with service of Interment afterwards in Cill Mhuire Cemetery, Glenfin. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the parish webcam 

Mary Therese Celine Patton, Convoy

The death has taken place at Brindley Manor Nursing Home of Mary Therese Celine Patton, Magheracorn, Convoy, F93KP76

Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Veronica, her siblings Margaret, Joseph (Josie), Agnes, Thomas, John (Johnny), Patrick (Patsy), Kathleen (Katie), Bridget(Bridie), Anne (Annie) and Freda, Mary will be sadly missed by her brother-in-law Denis, her nieces, Veronica and Denise, their families, and all her nieces and nephews and the extended Patton family. Also her friend Greta and all her Lifford Hospital friends.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence from 6pm to 10pm on Thursday and on Friday from 4pm to 10pm with Rosary both nights at 9pm. House private please on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral leaving from her home on Saturday at 10.15am going to St Mary’s Church Convoy for 11am Mass, followed by burial in the old graveyard.
