Death notices for Donegal on Saturday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

Mick Gallen, Ballybofey and Tyrone

The death has taken place peacefully at home, of Mick Gallen, Meenglass Road, Ballybofey, Donegal, F93 EYT5 and Aghyaran, County Tyrone.

Beloved husband of Mary, much loved father of Gary (Kay) and Sinéad (Shaun), loving granda of Emily, Jamie, Andrew and baby Aaron, dearest brother of Gerard, Kathleen, Anne, Seamus, Brian, Eugene and the late Maryrose and Bernard, cherished son of the late Brian and Bridget (Altgoland). Very deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sorrowing wife, son, daughter, daughter in law, son in law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and entire family circle.

His remains are reposing at the family home on Sunday from 11am until the rosary at 9pm and on Monday from 11am until the rosary at 9pm.

Funeral from the family home on Tuesday at 10.20am for Requiem Mass at 11am in The Church Of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar. Interment will take place afterwards in Drumboe Cemetery. The Mass can be viewed on the parish webcam.

Family flowers only please, donations, if desired to The Donegal Hospice c/o any family member.

Seamus Logue, Antrim and Carrigart

The death has taken place of Seamus Logue, of Larganreagh, Downings and Gransha, Belfast. He passed away at the Royal Hospital, Belfast, surrounded by his family.

Seamus is predeceased by his sister Susie and his brothers James, Paddy and Michael. He is survived by his brothers Owen and Hughie and his sister Mary.

Beloved son of the late John and Winifred Logue, husband of Leontia, loving father to Sarah and Ciarán and grandfather to Clara and Rosa.

His remains will be reposing in the chapel of rest at Healy Brothers, 56 Andersonstown Road, Belfast on Sunday from 11am to 3pm, and at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny on Monday from 6pm to 8pm.

Funeral Mass at St John The Baptist Church, Carrigart at 11am on Tuesday followed by burial at adjoining cemetery.

Philomena Griffin, Falcarragh

The peaceful death has taken place at her home, surrounded by her loving family, of Philomena Griffin, née Sheerin, of Ballyness, Falcarragh F92 H9A0.

Predeceased by her husband James, son Thomas, son-in-law John Kilcullen, her parents Charles and Bridget, sisters Madge and Christie, Eileen and Frank, her brother Brother Patrick and sisters-in-law Brid, Margaret and Stjohn and brother-in-law Paddy. She is survived by her daughters Ann Marie and Aonghus Buckley, Margaret and Josephine, daughter-in-law Alice, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Kathleen Gallagher, sisters-in-law Nora and Máire and Paddy, nieces, nephews and a circle of family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her home with wake on Saturday from 2pm to 9pm and on Sunday from 2pm to 9pm with Rosary both nights at 9pm. House private after Rosary and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Monday for 12 noon Mass in St Finian's Church, Falcarragh F92 x302 with burial afterwards in Gortahork cemetery. 

Joseph Leppard, Killea and Derry

The death has taken place peacefully surrounded by his loving family, of Joseph Leppard, living in Killea County Donegal, originally from Melmore Gardens, Creggan, Derry.

Much loved father of Orla, Caoimhe and Cillian, he is sorely missed by Annette, son-in-law Michael, Yue and Pádhraic, his beloved grandchildren Ruairi and Tadhg and much loved brother and uncle.

HIs remains are reposing at his home in Killea, on Sunday from 3pm to 7pm.

Funeral will take place on Monday at 10am in St Eugene’s Cathedral, followed by burial at Derry City Cemetery. Mass can be viewed live here

Brendan O’Kane, Castlefin

The death has taken place peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital, of Brendan O'Kane, 602, Liscooley Villas, Castlefin, Donegal, F93 VR0C.

Beloved husband of Kathleen, much loved father of Brenda and Rónán (Sinéad), loving brother of Teresa (Gillespie), Hugo, Noel and the late Seamus and Kevin, cherished son of the late Mary-Jane and Michael.

His remains are reposing at the family home. Family time please from 11pm until 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from the family home on Monday at 11.30am for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St Mary’s Church, Castlefin. Interment will take place afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Castlefin. The Mass can be viewed on the parish webcam.

Ollie Horgan, Galway and Letterkenny

The death has taken place of Ollie Horgan, Cahermorris, Corrandulla, Galway, and formerly of Beinn Aoibhinn, Letterkenny, County Donegal and Dalysfort Road, Salthill, Galway

Beloved son of the late Joe and Bernie and brother of the late Martin, Ollie is mourned by his wife Anita and their children Emma, Anthony, Brendan, Conor and David, sister Mary and brother Ger. He will also be missed by Kit, Brian and Caroline and his nephews, nieces and extended family. Ollie loved his football, his family and his friends

His remains are reposing on Saturday at the family home in Cahermorris, Corrandulla, Galway, H91K5F2, and on Sunday at the O’ Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91V1K8) from 3pm to 6pm. Parking and entrance to the funeral parlour: Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr Burke Park. Pedestrian Zone on Upper Dominick Street and William Street West - Sunday from 3pm to 2am. Street parking on Fr Griffin Road, The Claddagh, Sea Road, Henry Street, very limited on Munster Avenue. Car Parks Claddagh Church, Mill Street (beside Garda Station), Spanish Arch.

Ollie’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill on Monday at 12 noon. Mass can be viewed here

Danny Kavanagh, Convoy

The death has taken place of Danny Kavanagh, Milltown, Convoy F93 H9NX. He passed away peacefully in the Donegal Hospice under the wonderful care of the Hospice staff and surrounded by his loving family.

Danny will be forever loved and cherished by his loving wife Mary, son Martin, daughter's Elaine and Claire, son-in-law John and grandson Leo. He is predeceased by his parents Patrick and Susan, brother Paidin and sister Eileen. Sorely missed by his brothers Charlie and Jimmy, sisters Nuala, Margaret, Myra, Patricia and Josephine and the extended family circle.

His remains will repose at his home on Saturday from 12 noon to 10pm with Rosary at 9pm. Family time please on the morning of the funeral. 

Funeral leaving from his home on Sunday at 12.45 for 1pm Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, Convoy, followed by burial in the old graveyard.

Family flowers only donations in lieu if desired to the Donegal Hospice care of Terence McClintock Funeral Director.

Kathleen Kee, Ballybofey and Cloghan

The peaceful death has occurred of Kathleen Kee, née Grant, The Hill, Altnapaste, Ballybofey, and formerly of Cloghan. She passed away in the exemplary care of the staff of Drogheda and Barnes View Ward, St Joseph's Community Hospital, Stranorlar.

Predeceased by her husband Charles and siblings Annie, Christine, Jeannie, Lillie and George, Kathleen will be deeply missed by her loving children Ann, John and William (Mary). She is remembered with special affection by her dear friends Noreen, Kathleen, and Rina, and her niece Lesley for their kindness, as well as by her extended family, neighbours, and many friends.

House private to the family only.

Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday at 2pm in St John's Church, Kilteevogue with burial afterwards in Stranorlar Parish Churchyard.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if desired, to the staff of Drogheda and Barnes View Ward, St Joseph's Community Hospital or to the Donkey Sanctuary, care of any family member or Marley Funeral Directors.

Liam Sinnott, Killygordon and Wexford

The death has taken place of Liam Sinnott, Carricknamanna, Killygordon, Donegal and Ballygarrett, Wexford. He passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the outstanding staff at Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of the late Anne, and much loved father to Willie, Michael, Bridget and Mary, cherished brother of Mari, Patricia, Dora, Peter, Maggie, Ellie, and Joan. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his sons, daughters, brother, sisters, extended family and friends.

Funeral leaving McCool’s Funeral Home, Ballybofey on Sunday at 9.30am for cremation in Lakeland Crematorium, Cavan at 12 noon. The house is private please. 

Donations in lieu of flowers if so desired directly to the Donegal Hospice care of any family member.

Terence Cunningham, Killybegs

The peaceful death has occurred of Terence Cunningham, Riverdale Heights, Killybegs. He passed away after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family in Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny.

Predeceased by his parents Jim and Margaret Rose Cunningham, sister and brother-in-law Breege and Connie Hegarty, and sister-in-law Patricia Cunningham, Terence is forever loved and sadly missed by his loving wife Maureen, his six children and daughter- and sons-in-law Terry (Majeda), Rosie (Edmund), Geraldine (Darragh), Sheila (Adam), Martina (David) and Gráinne (Conor). Cherished grandfather to Saoirse, Ava, Isla, Emily, Jack and Jamie. Loved and remembered by his sister Margaret, brothers Jimmy, Connie, Bernie and Cathal, his brother- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposal of Terence's remains continues at his residence on Saturday from 12 noon to 9pm.

Removal on Sunday morning at 10.30am to St Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs for 11am funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired to the Donegal Hospice care of any family member or McBrearty Funeral Directors.
