Death notices for Donegal on Tuesday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

Mary Gillespie, Lettermacaward and Carrick

The peaceful death has occurred of Mary Gillespie, née Gallagher, Lettermacaward and Carrick. She passed away surrounded by her loving family and under the wonderful care of Donegal Community Hospital.

Mary is predeceased by her father Michael James Gallagher and will be sadly missed by Eamon, her children Maureen (Carl), Gary (Katie) and Paul, her grandchildren Amy, Leah, Jason, Thomas and Shay, her mother Nora, sisters Catherine, Jackie, Fiona, Amanda and Noreen, her brothers Michael, Kevin, Danny, Declan and Peter, her in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Her remains are reposing at Shovlin’s Funeral Home, Sandfield, Ardara, F94 N923 on Wednesday from 12pm to 7pm, with removal to St Columba's Church, Carrick for 8.30pm (via Killybegs) to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only, donations if desired to Donegal Community Hospital.

Hedley Gilliland, Bundoran

The death has taken place peacefully at the home, surrounded by his loving family, of Hedley Gilliland of Siocháin, 21 Tullan Strand Road, Bundoran. 

Predeceased by his granddaughter Grace, he is deeply regretted by his loving wife Patricia, his son Neil, Neil’s partner Katriona and special close family friend Olga and all his neighbours and friends.

House strictly private please. His remains are reposing at McGloin’s Funeral Home, Chapel Road, Cliffoney on Wednesday from 5pm concluding with a celebration of Hedley’s life at 8pm. 

Removal on Thursday morning at 9.30am to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for a private cremation. All family and friends welcome to attend the removal at the funeral home on Thursday morning. Cremation strictly private please.

No flowers please. Donations in lieu to The Simon Community, Sligo c/o Patsy Mc Gloin and Sons Undertakers, Cliffoney.

Margaret McCauley, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Margaret McCauley, née Fox, Springvale Care Home, Lennoxtown, formerly of Bonahill, Ballyshannon. She passed away peacefully after three years in the loving care of the staff at Springvale Care Home.

She is sadly missed by her loving sons Seán and Cathal, sister Helen, grandchildren Cara, Calum and Katie, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will repose at St Michael’s RC Church, Mulleek on Wednesday at 7pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am, followed by burial in St Michael’s graveyard.

Mary Ann Byrne, Kilcar

The peaceful death has occurred at her home of Mary Ann Byrne, née Cannon, Straleel, Kilcar and formally of Srath Buí, Gleann Cholmcille.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Martin (Margaret), Pete (Mary), Mary (Seamus), Bríd (Michael) Michael (Ann), Margaret (Seamus), Gerry (Christine), Ann (Danny RIP), Jimmy (Ciara), Charlie (Orla), Martina (Francis), her 34 cherished grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is fondly remembered and sadly missed by her brothers Sean, Francie and Hughie, her sisters Threasa, Kathleen and Bríd, her extended family, neighbours and friends. Mary Ann is predeceased by her beloved husband Hugh Patrick, her grandson Barry Breslin, son-in-law, Danny Mc Gill, her brother Peter and sisters Bernadette and Philomena.

Her remains are reposing at her residence on Tuesday from 12 noon until 10pm and on Wednesday from 12 noon until 10pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in St Cartha's Church Kilcar with burial afterwards in the local Cemetery.

Pauline McGloin, Rathmullan and Dublin

The death has taken place peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the Donegal Hospice, of Pauline McGloin, Main Street, Rathmullan, Donegal, F92 R5P1, and formerly of Dublin.

Deeply regretted by her son Paul, daughter Helen, grandchildren Aisling, Tara and Anthony, great-granddaughter Kaitlin, daughter-in-law Donna, brother Martin, sister Kay, relatives and many friends. She is predeceased by her husband Tony and daughter Pauline.

Her remains are reposing at her home in Rathmullan from 12 noon on Tuesday until after the Rosary at 9pm. House private on the morning of the funeral please.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St Joseph's Church, Rathmullan followed by interment in the adjacent cemetery. Mass can be viewed live on MCN Media St Joseph's Church Rathmullan.

Family flowers only; donations in lieu to Donegal Hospice care of any family member

Nathaniel Black, Lisfannon, Derry and Belfast

The death has taken place of Nathaniel (Nat) Black of Ludden, Buncrana, formerly Derry City and Belfast. He passed away peacefully, after a short stay at Balmoral View Care Home, Belfast.

He was much loved by his family circle, children Dolores, Deirdre, Maura and David, grandchildren Elspeth, Aidan, Rory, Patrick, Matthew, Mollie, Katie and Manus, and great grand daughters Freya and Maddie. By his sons and daughter-in-law Jonathan, Clive and Rush, all his in-laws, nephews and nieces, the partners of his grandchildren and the wider family. He was pre-deceased by son Nathaniel and wife Dolores, and by all his siblings. He is deeply regretted by the wider family circle and friends.

Reposal of Nat’s remains continues in Ludden Cottage (at Links View Park entrance), F93 YH5C. Family and friends welcome on Tuesday from 12noon to 2pm and from 6pm to 9pm.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am in St Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery, Derry. The Requiem Mass may be viewed on the parish webcam
