Death notices for Donegal on Monday morning

The following deaths have taken place:

Laurence Sweeney, Clare and Ballybofey

The death has taken place peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, or Laurence Sweeney, Coill Mhara, Shannon, Clare and formerly of Ballybofey.

Deeply missed by his heartbroken family, wife Kathleen, children Catherine, Larry, Edwin and Adeline, granddaughter Erin, Larry's partner Sylvia, brothers Brian and Liam, sisters Anne and Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

His remains will repose in Mc Mahon's funeral home Shannon on Wednesday from 6pm to 7.30pm. House strictly private.

Funeral on Thursday to St John and Paul Church Shannon for 11am Mass followed by burial in Illaunmanagh Cemetery.

Donations if desired to Clare Care.

Stephen ‘Ann’ O’Donnell, Ranafast

The peaceful death has occurred of Stephen ‘Ann’ O’Donnell, Rann na Feirste. He passed away surrounded by his loving family in Donegal Hospice.

Predeceased by their first born baby son, grandchild Pio, parents Peadar and Ann and his brother Patsy, Stephen is sadly missed by his loving wife Bríd, sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen (Róisín), Gavin (Moya) Damien (Orlaith), grandchildren Caoimhe, Ultán, Ruadhán, Bláithín, Croía and Áine, his sisters Bridie, Margaret, Caitríona, Anne Marie and brother John. Hie is deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, extended family and many friends.

His remains are eposing at his late residence in Rann na Feirste, F94 F9W9, from midday Monday and Tuesday with Rosary on both nights at 8pm. Family time only following the Rosary and on the morning of the funeral please.

Requiem Mass at midday on Wednesday in St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Anagaire, F94 KO22, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Mass will be streamed on MCN Media st-marys-star-of-the-sea-church and on Annagry Parish Facebook Page.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers if so desired to the The Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association, Dungloe Community Hospital and the Donegal Hospice.

Martin Loughrey, Rathmullan

The death has taken place peacefully in Letterkenny University Hospital surrounded by his loving family, of Martin Loughrey, 
Red Brae, Rathmullan.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Kathleen, daughters Kathy Cussen (Ian), Navan, County Meath, Emer Loughrey, Rathmullan and Aoife McMenamin (Shay), Rathmullan, son Lee Loughrey, Rathmullan, adored grandchildren Cormac, Ailbhe and Davin, sisters Nora McFadden, Kilmacrennan and Renee Rodgers, Ballyshannon, sister-in-law Monica Crawford, Glencar, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Martin is predeceased by his parents May and Neil Loughrey, and sister Marian Canning.

His remains are reposing at his home from 1pm on Monday. House private please.

Requiem Mass at 11am on Wednesday in St Joseph’s Church, Rathmullan. Burial will take place afterwards in Rathmullan Cemetery. Mass can be viewed on MCN Media St Josephs Church Rathmullan. 

Kevin McCallion, Newtowncunningham

The death has take place peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, of Kevin McCallion, 3 Colehill, Newtowncunningham, Donegal, F93 HFH7.

Predeceased by parents Owen and Lizzie and sister Kathleen McNamara, he is survived by his loving wife Helena, son Lee (Claire), daughters Deborah Brown (Emmet) and Shauna Kelly (Michael), his grandchildren Ella, Adam, Rhys and Miya. He is deeply missed by brothers Danny, Jackie (Jean) and Dessie (Mary), sisters Sadie (Charlie), Geraldine (Pat) and Patricia (Frankie), nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbours and many friends.

Kevin's remains will repose at his late residence on Monday from 11am. Family time from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Wednesday morning for requiem Mass at 11am in All Saints Church Newtowncunningham, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. 

Family flowers only. Donations, in lieu, if desired, to the Donegal Hospice c/o of any family member or Charlie Mc Clafferty, Funeral Director.

Brendan Brogan, Dublin and Donegal 

The death has taken place of retired Garda Inspector Brendan Brogan, Perrystown, Dublin and late of Donegal. Brendan passed away peacefully following a short illness in the exceptional care of the doctors and nurses in St James' Hospital and Orwell Private Nursing Home.

Deeply regretted by his wife, Mary Patricia, sons Brendan and Paul Gerald,  daughter-in-law Helena, grandchildren Conor and Elinor, sisters-in-law Margaret and Nora, brother-in-law Andrew, nieces Ann and Michelle, nephew John, extended family, neighbours and retired colleagues. Brendan was predeceased by his father Hugh, Mother Mary, brothers Manus, Hugh, Patrick, John Gerald and sister Mary.

His remains will repose at Fanagan's Funeral Home, Lower Kimmage Road, D6W N279 on Tuesday, from 5pm to 7pm. House strictly private please.

Removal on Wednesday, morning to the Church of St Paul of the Cross, Mount Argus for Funeral Mass at 11.30am, followed by burial in Mount Venus Cemetery.

James McGrory, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has taken place of James McGrory, 2, Beechwood Road, Letterkenny, formerly Sharagore, Linsfort, Buncrana, retired telephonist of the Revenue Commissioners.

He is survived by his beloved wife Catherine, sons Seamus (Letterkenny), Niall (Jacqueline) Omagh, daughters Ellen and Maria (Letterkenny), Aoife Carroll (Michael) Glenswilly, loving Grandad to his cherished grandchild MJ. Deeply missed his family, brothers Neil and Denis (Linsfort) sister Anne Fullerton (Buncrana), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

His remains are reposing at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F92 XE35) from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Monday where you are most welcome to pay your respects, concluding with removal to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for Reception Prayers at 5pm. House private please

Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11am, which can be viewed on the link www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.

Nellie McGuinness, Glenties 

The peaceful death has occurred surrounded by her loving family of Nellie McGuinness, Main Street, Glenties.

Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mamie, brother Jim, sister Zita, and brothers in-law Seamus Mc Closkey and Jim Wilson. She is sadly missed and forever loved by her sister Mary (New York), sister-in-law Maureen (Glenties), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing of Nellie’s remains continues at her late residence on Monday from 12 noon until 10pm with Rosary at 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning at 11am in St Connells Church , Glenties with interment afterwards in the local cemetery. Mass can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/glenties

Nuala Nic Pháidín (née Ní Fhearraigh), Gweedore

The death has occurred at her home of Nuala Mc Fadden (Nuala Phaidí Jimí) of Cnoc Fola, originally of Brinlack, Gweedore.

Predeceased by her parents Paddy Jimi and Madgie, son Noel, son-in-law Rónán and sisters Máire, Treasa and Gráinne, she is sadly missed by her husband John Ghracie, daughters; Graceanne (Ray) and Bernie, sons Neil (Margaret), Pádraig (Eileen), Damian (Debbie), Liam (Gina), Peadar (Rosie), sister Kitty, brothers Muiris, Billy, Joe, Peadar and Pádraig, 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Reposing of her remains continues at her home (F92 K6F7) on Monday from 12pm until Rosary at 8pm.  House private after rosary and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11am in Teach Pobail Cholmcille, Cnoc Fola, interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The Funeral Mass can be viewed live on Kieran Roarty Funeral Director's Facebook page and on the church webcam.

Mary Harkin, Churchill

The death has occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, of Mary Harkin, née McDaid, Cruckaheeny, Upper Glebe, Clonmany.

Predeceased by parents Edward and Grace Mc Kay and husband Paddy, she is deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbours and friends.

Mary's remains are reposing at the residence of her niece Frances Harkin, Corderry, Churchill F92 W5D5. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Monday for requiem Mass in St Colmcille’s Church, Glendowan at 11am, followed by interment in Templedouglas cemetery. 

Jim O’Donnell, Carndonagh

The very peaceful death following a short illness has taken place of Jim O’Donnell, Warren View Manor, Muff and formerly of Glenmakee, Carndonagh.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Ella and his sister Patricia and brothers Benny and Hugh; much loved and adored father of Jackie (Gordon), Jenny (Mike), Marie (Simon) and Teresa (Seamus); loving grandad of his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim will be deeply missed by his sisters Kathleen and Anne, brothers Packie, Liam, Denis, Charlie and Eamonn, sisters and brothers in-law, along with his many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by the wonderful staff at Warren View Manor and his lifelong friends and neighbours.

Jim’s remains are reposing at his home. 

Funeral from there on Monday at 10.20am for 11am Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on www.carndonaghparish.com.
