Deaths in Donegal, Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024

The following deaths have taken place:

- Patrick O’Donnell, also known as Jock McDonald, Scotland and Rosbeg

- Mary Furey, Glenties

- John Joseph White, Moville

John McGlinchey, Trummon West Barr

The death has occurred at Sligo University Hospital of John McGlinchey of Trummon West Barr.

Reposing at Aras Mhic Shuibhne Nursing Home, Laghey on Saturday, August 9 from 4.15 to 5.45 arriving to St. Brigid’s Church, Ballintra for 6pm to repose overnight .

Funeral Mass on Sunday at 11am with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

John will be greatly missed by his Family, Neighbours and many Friends.

Jim O’Donnell, Carndonagh

The very peaceful death following a short illness has taken place of Jim O’Donnell, Warren View Manor, Muff and formerly of Glenmakee, Carndonagh.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Ella and his sister Patricia and brothers Benny and Hugh.

Much loved and adored father of Jackie (Gordon), Jenny (Mike), Marie (Simon) and Teresa (Seamus).

Loving grandad of his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim will be deeply missed by his sisters Kathleen and Anne, brothers Packie, Liam, Denis, Charlie and Eamonn, sisters and brothers in-law, along with his many nieces and nephews.

He will be fondly remembered by the wonderful staff at Warren View Manor and his lifelong friends and neighbours.

Jim’s remains will leave Eamonn McLaughlin’s Funeral Home, Station Road Carndonagh, F93 E4FN on Friday, August 8 at 5pm, going to his home at Warren View Manor, Muff where everyone is welcome to pay their respects on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-9pm on both days.

Funeral from there on Monday, August 11 at 10.20am for 11am Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please donations in lieu if desired to the Donegal Hospice C/O any family member or Eamonn McLaughlin Funeral Director.

Martin Curran, Quigley’s Point

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Martin Curran, Crockglass, Quigley’s Point.

Beloved husband of Mavis, and much-loved father of Neil, Maureen, Bernard, James and Shaun.

Predeceased by his son Columba, his parents Annie, and Bernard and his brother John. Dear brother of Jimmy, Rose, Mary, Anna, and Bernadette.

A devoted grandfather to his five grandchildren, Charlie, Ava, Oisín, Daithí and Colm.

Martin is deeply regretted by his daughter-in-laws Kerry, Ciara and Clodagh, his son-in-law Jerry, his nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Removal from Kelly’s Funeral Home, Station Road, Carndonagh on Friday, August 8 at 2:00pm going to his late residence, where a one-way system will be in operation.

Removal from there on Sunday, August 10 at 12:20pm going to St Columba’s Church, Drung for 1:00pm Funeral Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Susan Browne, Killygordon

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Susan Browne, (nee Mc Colgan) Ballyarl, Crossroads, Killygordon.

Beloved wife of the late Joe, much-loved mother to Josie, (Liam), Barry (Theresa), Charlotte, Don, (Martina) Eva, and Tony, cherished sister of Eva and the late Peggy, Seamus, Donald, and Brendan.

Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her sons, daughters, sister, grandchildren, nephews, nieces extended family neighbours, and friends.

Reposing at Mc Cool’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9 from 3pm to 9pm.

Funeral leaving from her late residence on Sunday, August 10 at 12.20pm for Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon at 1pm.

Patricia White Blouin, Luxembourg and Moville

The death has taken place on August 1, 2025 of Patricia White Blouin, Luxembourg and formerly of 2 Church Terrace, Moville.
Dearly loved wife of Yann, and mother of Stephane and Philippe.

She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Reposing at 2 Church Terrace, Moville (F93 D2KN) from 4pm to 10pm on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9 from 12pm to 10pm.

Patricia’s Funeral Mass will take place at 10am on Sunday, August 10 in St Pius X Church, Moville followed by private cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Funeral mass can be viewed live on www.movilleparish.com.

Susan Browne (née Mc Colgan), Crossroads

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Susan Browne, (nee Mc Colgan) Ballyarl, Crossroads, Killygordon.

Beloved wife of the late Joe, much loved mother to Josie, Barry, Charlotte, Don, Eva, and Tony, cherished sister of Eva and the late Peggy, Seamus, Donald, and Brendan. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her sons, daughters, sister, grandchildren, nephews, nieces extended family neighbours, and friends.

Patrick O’Donnell, also known as Jock McDonald, Scotland and Rosbeg

The death has occurred of Patrick O’Donnell, also known as Jock McDonald, founder and singer of The Bollock Brothers.

Born in Glenties and raised in Rosbeg, Patrick passed away tragically in a sea incident in Bundoran on Saturday, July 26.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family: daughter Maria Devlin, sons Kilien O’Donnell and Benjamin Godhusen, brothers Gerry and Martin O’Donnell, and by his extended family, friends, and the wider music community.

Predeceased by his beloved mother Sarah O’Donnell (née Johnson) of Rosbeg and his father Patrick O’Donnell.

His remains will repose at Shovlins Funeral Home Sandfield, Ardara at F94N923 on Friday afternoon, August 8 from 3.30pm to 4.45pm followed by removal to St Conal's Church Kilclooney, travelling via Rosbeg, Portnoo arriving at 6pm.

Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Saturday, August 9 with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick’s Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Shovlin’s Funeral Home Facebook page.

All are welcome to join the family for refreshments afterwards at The Tavern, Portnoo, Kilclooney.

Mary Furey, Glenties

The death has occurred of Mary Furey, The Hill, Killybegs, and formerly of Doobin, Glenties, Co. Donegal, peacefully surrounded by her family in the loving and compassionate care of Harbour Lights Nursing Home, Killybegs.

Predeceased by her husband Edward, brothers Patrick and Micheal Hugh, sisters Rose and Bridget and son-in-law John.

Dearly loved mother of Maura (Patrick) and Patricia (John, RIP). Sadly missed by her grandchildren, MaryBrigid, Patricia, Caroline, Hugh, Patrick, Diane, Laura, Shaun, and Eimear, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Remains reposing at McBrearty’s Funeral Home, Killybegs until 7pm this evening, Wednesday 6th August.

Reposing at her daughter Patricia’s residence, Fintra Road, Killybegs (F94W3W8)  Thursday 7th and on Friday 8th August.

Removal on Saturday morning, August 9 at 10.30am to St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs for 11am funeral Mass, which will be streamed live at https://mcn.live/Camera/st-mary-of-the-visitation-church-killybegs.

Burial afterwards in Frosses Cemetery.

John Joseph White, Moville

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of John Joseph White, The Waters Edge, River Row, Moville F93 P68N.
Predeceased by his parents Bernie and Jackie White.

Beloved husband of Bernadette and much loved father of Seán(Louise), William (Maria), James (Clare), Andrew (Mairead), Stephen, Kevin (Jane) and Paul (Tasha) and devoted grandfather of Jack, Daisy, Peter, Seán, Conor, Tony, Noah, Belle, Luna, Jemmia, Charlie, Harry and Paul, and loving brother of Nuala, Patricia (RIP), Lawerence (RIP), Bernadette, Pat (RIP), Lucy, Joan (RIP), Michael and Peter.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, wider family circle friends and neighbours.

John’s remains will leave Eamonn McLaughlin’s Funeral Home, Station Road, Carndonagh F93 E4FN this evening, Wednesday August 6th at 7pm, going to his home where everyone is welcome to pay their respects on Thursday and Friday from 11am to 9pm on both days.

Funeral from there on Saturday, August 9 at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Pius X Church, Moville followed by private cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on www.movilleparish.com.
