Death notices for Donegal on Saturday morning

The following deaths have taken place:

Michael Joseph McMenamin, England and Ballybofey

The peaceful death has occurred of Michael Joseph McMenamin in Birmingham, England, formerly of Curraghamone, Ballybofey, F93 2DP5.

Predeceased by his parents Lizzie and Dan, brothers Vinnie and Danny, and grandsons Éamonn and Tony; devoted husband of Gráinne and dearly beloved father of Kathleen, Éilis, Roseleen, Noel and Michelle and father-in-law to Mick, Joe, Sharon and Steve. Loving grandfather to Gráinne, Tony, Kate, Éamonn, Rónán, Michael, Dan, Pearce, Ciarán, Luke and Aidan and great grandchildren Lily and Luke. Sadly missed by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Michael's remains will be received into Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Yardley Wood, Birmingham on Monday, August 11 at 6 pm.

Mass to celebrate Michael’s life will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at 11 am. Interment will take place afterwards in Widney Manor Cemetery, Solihull at 1pm. The Requiem mass can be viewed live on https://mcn.live

Donations if desired can be made to Ward 21, Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham.

Patricia Gallagher, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Patricia Gallagher, née Gillespie, Doobally, Ballyshannon, F94 V2F9. She passed away peacefully at North West Hospice, Sligo surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Pat and her parents PJ and Kathleen Gillespie, Patricia is sadly missed by her adored children David (Gráinne), Conor (Lauren), Richard, Laura (Fearghal) and Mark, her sisters Geraldine, Loretta, Marie her brothers PJ, John and Hugh, nieces, nephews and all extended family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her residence on Saturday from 2pm to 9pm.

Removal on Sunday afternoon to St Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon for 2pm Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the Abbey Cemetery. Patricia's funeral Mass can be viewed live on here

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if so desired to North West Hospice, Sligo care of John McGee and Sons Funeral directors or any family member.

Michael Kelly, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Michael Kelly, Ballyshannon.

Beloved son of Sinead Doran, brothers Gerard (Eimear), James (Rene), Nicole (Oisin), Conor and Alanna. Father to sons Jocob, CJ and daughter Kayleigh. Grandson of Rose Doran and predeceased by his grandfather Hugh. Michael is loved and remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins and wider family.

House private please at all times.

His remains are reposing at John McGee & Sons Funeral Home, Belleek Road, Ballyshannon, F94ED21 on Sunday from 4pm to 8pm followed by private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium.

Donna Devine, Glenswilly

The peaceful death has occurred of Donna Devine (Nee Sheridan), Glenview, Kilpheak, Glenswilly,

Beloved wife of Brian, sadly missed by her sons, Shane, William and Brian. Deeply regretted by her brothers James and Stephen, beloved Aunt Bridget Mc Daid, Crohan, Ramelton, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Donna's remains are reposing at her late residence.

Funeral Mass on Sunday at 11am in St Columba's Church, Glenswilly with burial afterwards in Kilpheak Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed here

Anthony Charles Patrick O'Doherty, Falcarragh, Dungloe, Wicklow and USA

The death has taken place of Tony O’Doherty of Olney, Maryland; Falcarragh and Dungloe; Enniskerry, County Wicklow; and Thousand Oaks / Palm Springs California. Tony passed peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by family. 

He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Gillian, sons Mick, Peter, Keith, grandchildren Ella, Kern, Leo, Grace, Lucy, Indigo and Neala and his sisters Mary Burgess and Dorothy Hyde.

A small Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Maryland, his last home, on Saturday at 10.30am. Plans for a celebration of Tony in Ireland will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to an Alzheimer charity would be greatly appreciated.

Gail Booth, Rathmullan and Dublin

The death has taken place peacefully in the Donegal Hospice of Gail Booth, 6 Kerrs Bay, Rathmullan, and formerly of Laraghcon, Lucan, County Dublin.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Ciaran, her adored children Daniel and Hollie, sisters Valerie, Lorna and Olivia, brothers Ken and Thomas, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and her much loved dog Cooper. Predeceased by her parents Agnes and Liam.

House private please.

Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11am in St Joseph’s Church, Rathmullan followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, at 4pm. Mass can be viewed on MCN Media St Joseph’s Church Rathmullan.

Family flowers only, donations if desired to the Donegal Hospice, c/o any family member.

Conal Gildea, Ardara

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Conal Gildea, Carn, Ardara, formerly of Doohill and Birmingham.

Predeceased by his wife Bridie, his brothers Charlie, Hugo, John and Peter, his sister-in-law Anita and his nephew Conal; he will be dearly missed by his brother Tony, his nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, extended family and friends.

Conal's remains are reposing at his late residence.

Funeral from there on Saturday morning going to the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara for funeral Mass at 10 am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Joe Davies, Derry, Louth and Buncrana

The death has taken place peacefully at the Foyle Hospice of Joseph (Joe) Davies, late of Limavady Road, Derry, and formerly of Drogheda, County Louth, and solicitor in Buncrana.

Beloved son of the late John and Rosin, loving brother of Seamus, Karl and John, brother-in-law of Patti, Bernadette and Edel and much loved uncle of Eleanor, John-Paul, Brian, James, Katie, Lauren, Isabella and cousin Bobby. Joe is sadly missed by relatives, dear friends and work colleagues.

Funeral service will take place at W J O'Brien & Son's Funeral Home, 110 Clooney Road, Eglinton, BT47 3PU on Saturday at 1pm. A private cremation will take place later.

No flowers please. Donations can be made in Joe's memory to a cancer charity of your choice.

Jimmy Mc Ginley, Glasgow and Gweedore

The death has take place of Jimmy McGinley, Glasgow and formerly of Glassagh, Gweedore. He passed away peacefully at home in Glasgow surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of the late Mary, loving Dad of Gerard, Patricia, Mary, James, Pauline, Sean, Michael, Con, Martin and the late Mags; father in-Law to Tricia, Joe, John, Denise, Kitty, Louise and Brenda; granda of Maria, Joseph, Conor, Ciara, Aislinn, Aiden, Niall, Erin, Eoin, Mary-Kate, Monica, James, Eilish, Caitlin, Michael, Kian, Alannah, Orla, Niamh and Enya; greatgranda to Callah and Aiden; and brother to Patsy.

House private to family only.

Funeral Mass will be held in St Colmcille’s Church, Knockfola, on Saturday, at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Mass can be viewed live on Kieran Roarty Funeral Directors Facebook page
